Join Matt Cruse and Kate de Vries as they embark on another airborne adventure that takes them even higher in the sky.
Everyone knows about the Hyperion, the airship that disappeared years ago. Rumor has it that there is a very great treasure aboard - so great, that many could be desperate to discover the Hyperion's whereabouts.
Matt finally gets his dream of attending the Airship Academy when the Hyperion's coordinates fall into his knowledge, and his knowledge alone.
Of course, he could think of nothing more desirable than a chance to salvage the missing airship's treasures, become a rich man, and achieve an even greater dream - becoming captain of his own ship.
But when someone tries to threaten him and force him to give up the coordinates, Matt knows he's fallen into a heap of trouble.
Together, Matt Cruse, a mysterious gypsy girl, a daring airship captain, and the determined Kate de Vries set off into danger. They will find themselves at the mercy of the cold skies, new and terrifying creatures, and a very desperate man.
My Thoughts
The Setting: This second book in the Airborn trilogy was perfectly detailed, suspenseful, gripping, and full of adventure.
Overall: I loved it! The story was thrilling, and the ending was perfect.
Violence
All of the characters find themselves in life-threatening situations. There is some electrocution, most resulting in painful death. One character has his hand electrocuted, but it doesn't kill him. An airship is full of frozen bodies. A character snaps the fingers off of one such corpse, and throws two of the frozen bodies aside, caring little about them. A man is shot in the arm.
Language
Several uses of 'h---', 'd---', and one or two misuses of God's name.
Other
A man is about to kiss a young woman, but he is interrupted. A young man kisses two different young women, once by accident. This same young man seems torn between his attractions to both young women, often thinking about each one, and how beautiful they are.
Characters smoke. One drinks a good amount of whiskey.
