Easter by the Sea

I woke at 6 a.m. and looked out the window. The sky was a pink and orange glow beyond the trees of our yard - I had caught the sun before it's dawn. I ran to grab my camera and just as I turned it on, the sun broke over the horizon. It was a citrus orb of light, too bright to stare at, but too entrancing to look away. I leaned out the open window and snapped about a dozen photos, my fingers chilled by the breezes brushing by.
Later in the morning, my family and I made a two hour trip up north to where my grandparents live. My mom provided the ham, and, while it cooked, my dad took me and my little sister to the ocean. We stopped by a little outcropping of rocks and climbed all over them, hunting for seashells and sea glass.

LOOK! I took some accidental bokeh photos!!! Sadly, I can never remember how to do it purposefully =(

I focused the camera more.......

And more.....

Until I could take a clear picture of one of my biggest fears - seaweed.

I kept finding the most beautiful shells...and soon began wondering what I was going to do with all of them.
Oops.
Oh! Maybe...necklaces? I've never tried to drill holes in seashells before... My dad said he'd try to do it for me, but he can't guarantee that the shells won't break =/ So I guess we'll test one of the less-pretty shells. I hope it works!

This is a small tide pool. It was so pretty, but the glare of the sun on the water made it too difficult to capture its beauty on camera. I love looking into little tide pools...they're so crowded with seaweed, and moss, and shells - like a mini ocean trapped in a triangle of rock.

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter and ate too much chocolate =)
It was such a nice day in --- well, where I live ;)

    1. =D I will!
      Um.....I think it's a Nikon or something. It's pretty small, and I'm definitely not smart when it comes to camera technology. But yea, it takes decent photos! Thank you =)

    1. Ooh the mountains? I wish I lived there. I do love the ocean, but one week in the Rockies proved what my heart truly desires - to live in the mountains.
      Thanks! I think I will =)
