Thursday

There is a beauteous light snow falling over our woods. It's the start of a very large winter storm that will be getting worse as the day goes on.

I should probably be thinking about packing right now...I'm leaving on a teen winter retreat early tomorrow morning with my brother. I can't tell you where we're going exactly, but it's a seven hour drive up north. I'm pretty excited, I guess...I'm just not a fan of large crowds of teens.

I finished the Wolf Princess book a while ago. It was good, but I kinda hope the author decides to write a sequel.

For school, I'm reading a book called Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen. It's interesting so far...it's set on a desert-like planet called Austar IV. The main character is a boy named Jakkin. He is a bond servant and works as a dragon stallboy. He loves dragons, but dreams of a free life. In the beginning, we learn that he has been planning to steal a dragon egg from the dragonry. He plans to hatch a dragon, tame it, train it, and turn it into a fighter. And when he wins enough coins, he can buy his freedom.
It's not all easy come and easy go, though. The eggs in the dragonry were never counted; the hatchlings were. This was due to the fact that hardly any eggs actually hatched. So Jakkin cannot simply take a hatchling, or he'll be discovered. He must try to sense if a live hatchling is inside his choice of egg. But not many people have that developed sense.
As far as I've read, he hasn't tried to steal an egg yet. I was just giving you a sense of what the story is like.

I am working on a snowflake graffiti right now...it's hard! I'm trying to make it look like the flakes are falling towards you. Here's a preview:

Happy Weekend!

  1. Aww, I hope you have so much fun on your Winter Retreat! They tend to be a lot of fun!

Ah, that's crazy! I just had Dragon's Blood out of the library about a week ago, but I returned it because I have about a dozen other books out of the library I really want to read, but haven't gotten to yet. You'll have to tell me how you like it!

Those snowflakes are soo "cool" !! (<----Haha) they totally look like they're coming at me. Awesome job! ^__^

  2. Actually, the retreat was postponed at the last minute until next month due to weather and driving conditions =/ So I'll still be going, just not for a while.

Oh I'm loving Dragon's Blood so far! Definitely give it a try when you get the chance.

    Aww thanks!
