Inspiration

1. The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative.

  • the quality of being inspired, esp. when evident in something.
  • a sudden brilliant, creative, or timely idea.
You have no idea how much I would love to post about my story right now. It's coming together so well...I'm scared that at any moment, it will fall to pieces and not even its writer will be able to put it back together.

Stories are puzzles. Jigsaw puzzles.

Wait...no...they're not. Maybe it's more like a puzzle with pieces from another puzzle mixed in...you have to figure out which pieces fit into your puzzle, and which ones don't.

I want God to be evident in my writing at all times...even in my fantasy stories. I want Him to be a part of my stories; a character that represents Him - like The Door Within trilogy.

Creator of my fantastical world.

King over every living being.

Supreme Ruler of my characters. My main characters are not the heroes in my stories, He Is. They'd be nothing without their Creator. Just like I am nothing without my Creator.

How do I keep myself interested in my current story? How do I push to the end without giving up?

Writers block is every writer's enemy. When I get writers block, I usually feel like, "Oooh, I should probably work on my story todaaay..." But there's no joy or excitement in guilt or feeling like you 'should probably do this or that'.

It's just like giving with a generous heart. If you do it out of guilt or works, what's the point? It's all for our own selfish gain. Without love, we're left with nothing.

So when you have writer's block...I suggest not writing in your story. You'll only be displeased with your work later on. And you'll get frustrated. Do something else instead. For me, I would draw, read, write in my journal, or post on my blog. (no, i don't have writer's block right now...that's not why i'm posting ;) And who knows? Doing something else you love may even boost your inspiration and fire you up with ideas for another chapter in your story.

I have experienced something else that is similar to writers block, and it's not fun. I get all frustrated with my current story, thinking it can't possibly go anywhere...I just get stuck...and I end up wanting to start another story. I even do it sometimes.

Here's what's funny: I have three stories I'm working on. One for spring/summer, one for autumn, and one for winter (betcha can't guess which one i'm writing in). During each season, I get all inspired to write in the story that is set in that time of the year.

Ugh, I'm pathetic when it comes to writing.

I believe the Lord has given me potential in the writer's world...I just need to keep going and never give up again.

"Yep...that's never gonna happen," I tell myself.

God cares about even the smallest things in our lives...because sometimes the smallest things are the most important to us. He wants to help, and be the Leader and perfect Counselor that He is in every aspect of our lives.

Don't think for one minute that something is too small, or silly to pray about and ask God for help with. Pray about it. He is always, always willing.

BUT. If you are sitting even halfway on the throne of your life, controlling even a tiny bit of yourself, you will fail. I warn you in the most loving of ways. We Believers all do it. It is an everyday struggle. Every day, we must remember to give it back to Him. Lord, it's Yours.

Christ, not I.

  1. Aw, I know how you feel. I think it's just how busy this time of year gets, and I don't feel creative because we're always doing something. Sometimes I just need to sit down and rock in a rocking chair by our Christmas tree down stairs with all the lights off except for the tree lights and stop being busy and remember what the season is truly about. I've also had time to finally slow down and enjoy Christmas break, I was able to sketch some cute doodles today and go sledding with my sister after dark this evening. We're about to go watch the Christmas Carol now. What's your favorite Christmas movie? (Besides the Polar Express, of course)
I got your letter yesterday by the way!
    I really need to reply to your emails soon, I keep thinking about them, but not sitting down and writing back. Maybe I'll do that tonight (;
Oh! Those snowflakes you sent in your letter were so funny. I guess they had static somehow because they wouldn't fall off the letter.
I wonder if my parents were wondering why I was in my room laughing, because they were just sliding around the page and not falling off! Haha

  2. Yea writing really requires a lot of patience and relaxing of the mind.

Aww, sweet! My sister is finally home (as of wednesday afternoon). My Dad treated us all to dinner after picking Mel up from the airport and we were all exhausted by the time we got home. Strangely, Mel was the least tired. Haha.

Hmm...I love Eloise At Christmastime, and Scrooge, and Christmas With the Kranks...and a lot more I can't think of right now! But mostly the Polar Express!

Ooh! I'm so glad you noticed the snowflakes! Haha really? Oh my gosh, that's hilarious!

I knooow...I always feel terrible if I don't answer your e-mails within a couple days. But now I don't have to! ;) JK
Seriously though, no worries about rushing to reply. =)

    5 days till Christmas! =D
